Fair Trade To bring more awareness to Fair Trade and social issues, CoCo's Cupcakes collaborated with Equita, a Fair Trade and green lifestyle shop, to create a special Fair Trade cupcake for the screening of Black Gold at the Melwood Screening Room, January 20,2007. Black Gold is a compelling documentary film that deconstructs the cut throat international coffee industry: from the hands of farmers in Ethiopia - the birthplace of coffee - to the shelves and counters of your local supermarkets and coffee shops. The film also explores the real impact of Fair Trade, a burgeoning alternative form of trade designed to level the playing field. Equita had an information table with Fair Trade fact sheets, a display of innovative products, along with a sampling of four Fair Trade cupcake flavors crafted by CoCo's Cupcakes. The four unique and tasty flavors included: chocolate cupcake with chocolate ganache and dulce de leche filling; mocha cupcake with chocolate ganache and fondant cutout; mocha cupcake with dulce de leche icing and chocolate drop; mocha cupcake with vanilla buttercream and chocolate drop. Equita provided Fair Trade and organic ingredients such as: Fair Trade, organic and shade grown Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Coffee from Just Coffee; Fair Trade Dulce de Leche from Social Enterprise; and Fair Trade and organic cocoa powder and chocolate drops from Dagoba.
